The presence of bacteria resistant to most known antibiotics is becoming more common in hospitals worldwide. To combat them, it is necessary to design new antibiotics.
Using the platform "BIOMOL-HTCM" for rational drug design, the company Biomol-Informatics designed and synthesized three new molecules capable of inhibiting the growth of Gram-negative bacteria, in general the most resistant.
In June 26-28, Biomol-Informatics participated in Fontainebleau (France) at the international meeting of the 7th Framework Programme "Divinocell" which brings together some of the best European experts in the study of bacterial growth. The meeting evaluated the potential of the three molecules as potential antimicrobial agents facing the pharmaceutical industry.
Biomol-Informatics recently participated in a study of complete genome sequencing of a multidrug-resistant strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria, published in the Journal of Bacteriology. With its platform "BIOMOL-HTCM" (High-Throughput Combinatorial Modelling), the company also possesses an efficient computational modeling for the design of new antibiotics, capable of testing and modeling new molecules of pharmacological interest against this type of bacteria.
